Slugz paints an unusual picture for a mercenary boar. His hulking, heavily muscled 6’2” frame and the permanent constipated grimace on his face is enough to intimidate the most hardened thug.
Whereas most pigs seek occupation in trade, commerce, and politics, Slugz has opted for the mercenary route. Slugz can often be found hanging out in local dives where he meets potential clients who know him by reputation.
Slugz does not like to talk and will respond in monosyllables to questions, if at all. The daring few who care to comment about his race can expect a very fast trip across the bar. By now, folks know to dive for cover when Slugz’s hand strays to his side-arm. The boar is an excellent shot and won’t lose a night’s sleep over collateral damage.
Slugz was formerly a soldier named Ferramon, a native of Everia. He served as a captain for the army, a status considered quite rare for a boar. For a time, he served the top brass faithfully.
However, one mission went awry due to the stupidity of the nobles in command of his unit. A chance encounter with a Meridian patrol on contested land turned into a bloodbath when the nobles bungled negotiations. The resulting battle wiped out units from both sides. Slugz was the sole survivor of the Everian contingent, and in his own words, “I deserved to be.”
The incident had a strange effect on his mind: Ferramon starts believing in his own invincibility. No longer did he believe in governments, leaders, armies, and the chain of command. He put his faith only in his skills.
Renaming himself Slugz, he went AWOL, traveling to other Provinces as a sellsword. Eventually he came to Nova where he managed to lay hands on hi-tech weaponry. Eventually, Slugz settled in Zennegar as a merc, selling his skills to the highest bidder.
By his count, Slugz ran 99 successful missions. Despite this, few mercs are willing enough to join his team, as has been known to abandon team members who slow him down.
